Tips for making the most of the holiday while practicing social distancing

Though many celebrations have been cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, Easter, occurring this year on April 12, doesn't have to be one of them.

There are plenty of ways to make Easter special while following protocol to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Keep grandparents involved while keeping them safe

Grandparents and older family members face a higher risk of complications from coronavirus, but there are still ways to have them feel included while being distant.

  1. One way is to craft, disinfect and deliver Easter baskets to family and friends while staying at least six feet away from them.

  2. Move your Easter brunch or dinner to Zoom or Facetime!

  3. Tune in to a virtual Easter service.

  4. Consider supporting local businesses. Call around to see if any restaurants are offering a to-go or delivery special for Easter meals.

Get creative with the Kids

  1. Throw an indoor Easter Egg Hunt. Even adults can get in on this fun tradition, surprise your significant other with an indoor search for eggs filled with love notes and post-quarantine date ideas

  2. Let the kids decorate the house.

  3. Paint Garden rocks to look like Easter Eggs, Flowers, or Ladybugs. Paint your windows with washable paint!

  4. Play Easter games like, water balloon egg toss or pin the tail on the bunny, get creative and turn regular party games into an Easter bash!

  5. Get dressed up for your in-home party!

  6. Create a new Family Easter Tradition.

  7. Print out fun Easter colouring pages.

  8. Bake Easter Treats.

  9. Built a fort and watch movies.
